Day 3: Countdown of actions to Palm Sunday – Donate & Share Selfie

Be part of today’s online actions as we countdown to Palm Sunday, April 5. These are activities we can do from our home – continue to be part of the movement for justice for refugees!

Emergency Appeal to support people seeking asylum – urgent assistance needed

People on temporary visas are excluded from the government’s Covid-19 financial support. This leaves thousands of people seeking asylum with no income, no Centrelink support and no access to Medicare.

In this health and economic crisis, urgent support is needed. The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre’s Emergency Cash Appeal will help to provide food, emergency shelter, medicines and medical care to people who have been left with no support from Scott Morrison’s government.

Please help if you can. You can donate here.

Now, more than ever, is the time to come together to give support to all.

Let your creative spirits soar – make a sign for a selfie pic or short video to post or send on Palm Sunday

Sadly we can’t gather in person, but we can fill the online world with selfies and short videos supporting people seeking asylum and calling for justice for refugees and an end to Australia’s cruel policies.

Start to get your signs ready! Please remember to include on your sign one or more of the hashtags – #FreeTheRefugees, #DetentionIsAnInfectionRisk, #IncomeSupportForAll. Be involved – whether you are on social media or not, this is something we can all be part of.

Keep an eye on this website and on our social platforms for more information as Palm Sunday approaches.
