Palm Sunday 2026
This event took place on Sunday 29 March 2026. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
Palm Sunday Day rally – Refugees and Migrants welcome here

This Palm Sunday, our message was clear – Refugees and Migrants are Welcome Here. Thousands joined the Palm Sunday rally to add their voices to call for an end to cruelty to refugees, an end to scapegoating of migrants and to Say No to Racism.
Speakers included: Senator David Pocock, Reverend Belinda Groves and Amnesty International’s Zaki Haidari.
The recent racist anti-immigrant protests in Australia blame migrants and refugees for the lack of housing to cost of living and more. Both Labor and the Coalition not only refuse to reject this blame-shifting, they are actively contributing to it.
The evidence shows that refugees and migrants enrich our community, socially and economically. It is not migrants and refugees who are corroding our social fabric, but those who seek to whip up fear and create division and hatred.
Thank you to all community contingents who gathered at Petrie Plaza and marched together on the day.
