Despite calls from the Australian Medical Association and other medical bodies to retain it, the government is determined to repeal the legislation passed earlier this year which allows doctors to determine whether asylum seekers on Manus Island and Nauru should be brought to Australia for treatment. The numbers in the Senate are very close and rallies will be held around Australia to defend this crucial legislation.
