How is it that a family, seeking asylum and a chance to rebuild their lives, can be dragged from their beds and put into detention? What caused them to flee their homeland, and how is their claim for protection in Australia assessed? This public forum examines Australia’s refugee claims assessment process and our government’s assurances that Sri Lanka is now safe for Tamils.
Speakers include Dr Shiamala Suntharalingam, Canberra Tamil Association – Women’s Forum Coordinator.
