Jon Stanhope has had a distinguished career of service to the Canberra and Australian community. He won the seat of Ginninderra in the ACT Assembly in 1998 and was immediately elected Labor leader. He was Labor Chief Minister of the ACT from 2001 to 2011- the longest serving Chief Minister. In August 2012, he was appointed Administrator of the Indian Ocean Territories – Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island – a position which has just ended.

On his return to Canberra he will speak at this public meeting about his views on Australia’s treatment of asylum seekers and refugees.
