Key Outcomes – RAC Annual Planning Day
On 19 January around 70 activists met to review the work of RAC Canberra and to plan our campaign for the next period. Some key decisions taken were:
- A key focus for our work in the next four months will be building for Palm Sunday on 14 April. This is very likely to be during the Federal election campaign.
- Since there has been a major shift in public opinion against offshore detention on Manus and Nauru and because of the new-look crossbench in the House of Representatives, our theme for Palm Sunday will be “Enough is Enough: All Off Manus and Nauru in 2019”.
- We voted to change our name from the slightly bureaucratic-sounding “Refugee Action Committee” to “Refugee Action Campaign”.
Many other suggestions for action came up and a more detailed account of them can be found here.
