Jon Stanhope has had a distinguished career of service to the Canberra and Australian community. He entered the ACT Assembly in 1998 and immediately became Labor leader. He was Chief Minister of the ACT from 2001 to 2011 – the longest serving Chief Minister. More recently he has become a prominent opponent of the refugee policies of the government and the opposition. The meeting will also discuss the government’s response to the Syrian refugee crisis.
