Debunking Racist Myths about IMMIGRATION
Public Meeting
6.30pm, Wed 15 October
Venue: Copland Lecture Theatre, ANU
Australia has recently witnessed a worrying rise in racist, anti-immigration sentiments. Far-right groups, including newly emboldened neo-Nazi networks, have been attempting to spread fear and division in our communities. Their tactics are familiar: misinformation, scare campaigns, and myths about immigration designed to turn people against migrants, refugees, and multiculturalism.
It is no surprise that these groups thrive on distortion. When we look at the facts, a very different story emerges — one of contribution, resilience, and the fundamental role migration has played in shaping modern Australia.
Why This Matters Now
The recent rise of far-right and neo-Nazi groups on our streets is a stark warning. These groups do not simply oppose immigration — they promote hate and division that puts entire communities at risk. By exposing their lies and replacing myths with facts, we weaken their ability to grow.
Join Us: Public Meeting
To take this conversation further, we are holding a public meeting to unpack these myths and discuss how communities can stand together against racism and fear.
