KEYIMBA:

Bringing together several of Australia’s best West African musicians, KEYIM BA takes audiences on an exciting musical journey into West Africa fusing traditional sounds with the influences of reggae, funk and rap. With powerful African drumming and high energy dance accompanied by West African melodies on the Kora (West African harp) and guitar. The group was formed in early 2009 inspired by the release of Sibo Bangoura’s CD entitled Keyim Ba (4 stars, Limelight). Recently awarded the Kultour Touring grant for 2013.
“….an exuberant, celebratory outfit that literally party their way through the many colours and flavours of Bangoura’s West African background…” – Cristina Dio, Diaspora Worldbeat
Side by side, brothers Mohamed & Sibo Bangoura, two of Australia’s leading West African Djembe players, bring dynamic drumming and the melodious Kora to the stage. The brothers play alongside Yacou MBaye (Senegal) on Doun Doun (base drums) & Talking Drum, Moussa Diakete (Mali), former guitarist to Salif Keita on lead guitar and Simon Olsen (Malian roots) on bass. PATAPHYSICS:

Lead by the multi-instrumental, multilingual Pat Marks, Pataphysics has built a strong following for their original blend of hip hop, soul, jazz and global rhythms. With influences such as Miles Davis, Zakir Hussain, Fela Kuti, Dangelo and Public Enemy, Pataphysics’ live shows are dynamic and fresh, incorporating his powerful politically conscious flows with freestyle poetry, live improvised beats and percussion, and even traditional north Indian rhythms.
Pat Marks is the Music & Arts coordinator of R.I.S.E (Refugees, Survivors, and Ex-Detainees), running ongoing music, beat making, and poetry workshops, as well as providing recording & production for young refugee artists at his studio, The City of the 9 Gates. His specialist music, poetry and hip hop teaching experience has taken him all over Australia, and he is currently running the music and hip hop programs for juvenile justice detainees in Melbourne, teaching music in community high schools, and is the music and poetry/rap teacher at Footscray Arts Centres “Hip Hop Academy”.
OUDIST NUDIST TRIO:
Syrian Born Australian folk musician, Don Nordblom, began playing the oud (middle eastern lute) during a visit to his home town, Aleppo, Syria. Since returning to Australia, his oud style has settled somewhere between traditional Arabic music and western folk. With the wonderful voice of Danica Lee Browne and the subtle handdrumming of Graham Eager, Oudist Nudist offer a gentle folk blend of east and west.
BETH ‘N’ BEN (duo):

Beth n Ben’s songwriting spans from Folk, Reggae, and Rock to Blues, Pop, and Jazz tunes. Their fusion of genre, and tongue in cheek writing style consistently turn heads and get the crowd moving wherever they go. After doing the solo thing and playing in other bands around Canberra the duo (Beth Monzo and Ben Drysdale) teamed up in mid 2009, and have had a ball with collaboration playing up and down the east coast of Australia; both as a duo and with a full band.
FLUX:
Drums. Drums. Dancing. A collective of percussion obsessives who congregate whenever there is need of the power of the beat for weddings, marches, funerals and high teas. High energy and highly danceable!
