Under the Border Force Act, which came into effect in July last year, workers in Australian detention centres face two years’ imprisonment for disclosing abuse. Refusing to be silenced, countless former workers from Manus Island and Nauru continue to defy the Government in order to expose Australia’s cruel and shameful treatment of refugees.

Speakers include:
– Professor David Isaacs is Professor of Paediatric Infectious Diseases at Westmead Children’s Hospital and Sydney University. He runs a clinic for refugees in Western Sydney. Since visiting Nauru in late 2014, Professor Isaacs has become a vocal critic of Australia’s detention of refugees.
– Paul Stevenson OAM is a psychologist and traumatologist who has spent 40 years helping people make sense of their lives in the aftermath of disasters, including the Bali bombings, Boxing Day tsunami, Port Arthur massacre and the Thredbo landslide. Paul visited Australia’s oshore detention centres 16 times between 2014 and 2015.
